My name is Elan Loewinger, and I will be celebrating my Bar Mitzvah in Israel during Pesach 2018.
For my Bar Mitzvah project, I am hoping to raise $1,800 for the Yashar LaChayal (straight to the soldiers) Pesach Holiday Food Basket program. The mission of this program is to create bundles of food for soldiers who can’t afford food for Pesach. Each basket costs $25, but any contribution to support the soldiers in need would be greatly appreciated. My family and I will be in Israel just in time to help prepare and distribute the Pesach food baskets. I am really excited to not only be raising money for this program, but also to be a volunteer at the packaging event.
As the great-grandson of Holocaust survivors and Israel pioneers, I know the importance of having a Jewish state. It is essential that Jews around the world have a safe place to call home. This safe place is only possible because of the brave men and women of the IDF. All soldiers should have everything they need as they serve our country, and I feel a responsibility to help them.
