Hi. I am Sammy and my Bar Mitzvah is in May 2017 on Shabbat Parashat Emor. Pictured with me is my big sister, Daniela. She made Aliyah in August 2016 and is now a Lone Soldier in basic training in the IDF and will hold a combat position in the Search and Rescue Unit when her training is done. And I am so proud of her!
In Daniela’s honor and as part of my Bar Mitzvah project, I have chosen to work with Yashar LaChayal to provide water backpacks for a Border Patrol Battalion that really needs them. Although this is not the same unit that my sister will be part of, I know how hard all Chayalim work, especially the ones patrolling the borders of our beautiful country to keep it safe and secure. And with the summer approaching, hydration will be a priority in the extreme heat. And what better way to provide that than with enough water backpacks so that each member of the battalion has one to himself (or herself!).
I plan to partner with my family, friends and community to raise the funds needed to make my project a reality and help the soldiers. And it feels really good to know that 100% of all donations go straight to the soldiers (Yashar LaChayal!).
Thank you all for your support and generosity.
